beehiiv Pricing Explained (2026): Free, Lite, Pro, and Enterprise at Every Tier

beehiiv pricing in 2026: what Free, Lite, and Pro cost from 1,000 to 200,000 subscribers, what each plan unlocks, and when upgrading pays off.

beehiiv has three self-serve plans, Free, Lite, and Pro, plus custom-priced Enterprise. Paid plans are priced by how many subscribers you have, and every plan includes unlimited email sends. The part that trips people up is that the features you probably care about most, like paid subscriptions, custom domains, automations, the Ad Network, and branding removal, are split across the tiers in ways the headline prices don’t show.

This guide covers every tier on beehiiv’s pricing page as it appeared on October 7, 2026, what each plan actually unlocks, and how to work out which one you need. It was first published September 27, 2026. Between our September 27 and October 1 checks, beehiiv replaced its Launch, Scale, and Max plans with Free, Lite, and Pro and changed its prices and plan features, so this version is a full rewrite. Prices are in USD. beehiiv changes its pricing and features from time to time, so confirm on beehiiv’s pricing page before you buy.

How we researched this: This guide is based on beehiiv’s official pricing page (subscriber slider, plan cards, feature comparison table, and FAQ) and beehiiv’s help center. We haven’t tested beehiiv’s plans hands-on. The screenshot is a capture of beehiiv’s public pricing page, not of an account.

Yearly billing

beehiiv’s cards show a per-month price with “Yearly billing.” The yearly totals below are our own math (12 × the monthly figure), not numbers printed on the page.

SubscribersLite (per month)Lite (per year, our math)Pro (per month)Pro (per year, our math)

How much does yearly billing save? beehiiv’s FAQ says yearly billing “saves up to 20%.” On the tiers we checked, comparing 12 months of yearly billing with 12 months of monthly billing, the saving works out to about 13% to 17%. At 1,000 subscribers, Lite costs $588 a year on yearly billing vs. $708 paying monthly, a $120 difference. At 10,000 subscribers, Pro costs $2,388 vs. $2,868, a $480 difference.

Above 100,000 subscribers, Lite isn’t available, so you’d need Pro. The slider’s last step, labeled 250,000+, shows Pro at $999/month ($869/month billed yearly), but the feature table lists Pro as “Up to 250,000” subscribers and Enterprise as custom. Past 250,000, beehiiv’s FAQ points you to sales for Enterprise.

What the Free plan includes

Free is free “forever” for up to 2,500 subscribers, with no credit card required, according to beehiiv’s pricing FAQ. The FAQ also says the website, podcast, community, and digital products tools are included on every plan; what changes as you move up is limits, support, and advanced features. Free includes:

  • Unlimited email sends and unlimited posts
  • 1 publication, 1 team seat, and 1 guest author
  • The website builder, website templates, web hosting, and 1 custom page
  • Subscribe forms, advanced email capture, and link-in-bio
  • The recommendation network and magic links
  • A welcome email
  • Unlimited segments, custom fields, and email templates
  • Campaign analytics, subscriber metrics, and basic website analytics (30-day analytics lookback)
  • Podcast hosting for 1 show (5,000 monthly downloads)
  • Digital products: 1 product, with one-time purchases
  • API access (excluding the Send API)
  • Support through the “beehiiv Agent”

What Free doesn’t include: custom domains, paid subscriptions, the Ad Network, custom automations beyond the welcome email, the referral program, A/B testing, surveys and polls, custom HTML, and removing beehiiv branding.

When Free is enough: you’re publishing a free newsletter, you’re under 2,500 subscribers, and you’re fine with a beehiiv web address for now. beehiiv’s help center lists custom domains as a feature of “All Paid Plans,” so moving to your own domain means moving to Lite.

What Lite adds

Lite is the plan most solo writers will end up on, because it’s where beehiiv’s monetization tools and custom domains switch on. Everything on Free, plus:

  • Paid subscriptions with a 0% beehiiv take rate. beehiiv’s FAQ says you keep everything minus Stripe’s standard processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. Lite allows 1 paid subscription tier.
  • Custom domains
  • Ad Network, programmatic ads, and Paid Recommendations (earn by recommending other newsletters)
  • Referral program (up to 3 referral milestones)
  • Custom automations: up to 10 live, with triggers such as sign-ups, form submissions, tags, segments, and paid-subscription events
  • A/B testing, audience polls, and surveys
  • Custom HTML and publishing to segments
  • The advanced website builder, 5 custom pages, 10 site redirects, and full website analytics
  • 2 team seats, up to 3 publications, 3 guest authors, and 3 sender addresses
  • Up to 3 digital products, plus discount codes, pay-what-you-want pricing, and tip jars
  • In-editor beehiiv AI, 3 webhooks, and write access for the beehiiv MCP and beehiiv Agent
  • Standard support and a 12-month analytics lookback

What Lite still doesn’t include: removing beehiiv branding, more than one paid tier, click-triggered automations, dynamic content, RSS to Send, audio newsletters, the Sponsorship Storefront, and the Send API. Those are on Pro.

What Pro adds

Pro includes everything on Lite, plus:

  • Remove beehiiv branding
  • 10 team seats and up to 10 publications, with unlimited guest authors and sender addresses
  • Unlimited live automations, click-triggered automations, and A/B splits with advanced conditions
  • Dynamic content, RSS to Send, audio newsletters, and newsletter lists
  • Unlimited paid subscription tiers, group subscriptions, paid trials, and the Sponsorship Storefront
  • Unlimited referral milestones and unlimited custom pages
  • Website analytics with filters, custom robots.txt, and AI bot control
  • Unlimited digital products, custom checkout pages, order bumps and upsells, and webinars and coaching
  • The Send API, unlimited webhooks, and 3 Getty Images
  • More AI usage (the table lists “5x Lite”)
  • Priority support (the plan card says “24/7 priority support”)

Enterprise

Enterprise has custom pricing and custom subscriber and publication limits. The plan card and feature table list SSO/SAML, dedicated IPs, a customer success manager, concierge onboarding, workspace templates, custom rate limits, audit logs, deliverability reports, and unlimited team seats. beehiiv says to talk to sales for it; Lite and Pro are self-serve.

Lite or Pro: how to decide

For most individual writers, Lite is the default choice and Pro is an upgrade you make for a specific reason. Upgrade to Pro if you need one of these:

  1. No beehiiv branding. This is the most common reason. On beehiiv it starts on Pro, which is worth knowing when you compare prices with other platforms. (On Kit, for example, branding removal starts on the cheaper Creator plan; see our Kit vs beehiiv comparison.)
  2. More than one paid tier, such as separate monthly and premium tiers, or group subscriptions and paid trials.
  3. More than 2 team seats or 3 publications.
  4. More than 10 live automations, automations triggered by what subscribers click, or content that changes per reader (dynamic content).
  5. RSS to Send, if you want new posts from another site to go out as emails automatically.
  6. More than 100,000 subscribers, since Lite stops there.

Pro costs a bit less than twice as much as Lite at 1,000 subscribers ($109 vs. $59 monthly, a $50 difference). The ratio shrinks as you grow, but the dollar gap gets bigger: at 100,000 subscribers Pro costs $230 a month more ($699 vs. $469).

Hidden costs and fees to know about

beehiiv’s pricing is simpler than most, but a few things affect what you actually pay:

  • Stripe fees on paid subscriptions. beehiiv takes 0% of paid subscription and digital product revenue, but Stripe charges its processing fee (beehiiv’s FAQ cites 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction). Check your Stripe account for any other fees that apply to recurring billing in your country.
  • You pay for total subscribers, not just paying ones. beehiiv’s FAQ says it counts unique email addresses subscribed to your publication, so a big free list raises your plan price even if only a few readers pay.
  • A custom domain means a paid plan. On Free you’re on a beehiiv address.
  • One paid tier on Lite. If you want several price levels, budget for Pro.
  • Branding removal means Pro. If you need a white-label newsletter, budget for Pro, not Lite.
  • No extra charge for sending. beehiiv’s FAQ says every plan includes unlimited email sends, so you’re not penalized for sending more often.

Is beehiiv cheaper than Substack for a paid newsletter?

It depends on how much you earn. Substack’s help center says publishing is free, but if you turn on paid subscriptions Substack keeps 10% of subscription revenue, and Stripe charges its own processing fees. beehiiv charges a flat plan fee and takes 0%.

A simple break-even using beehiiv’s monthly Lite prices (Stripe fees apply on both platforms, so they’re left out):

Total subscribersbeehiiv Lite (monthly billing)Substack’s 10% equals that when paid revenue reaches
1,000$59$590/month
5,000$109$1,090/month
10,000$139$1,390/month

If your paid revenue is above the break-even for your list size, beehiiv Lite costs less than Substack’s cut. Below it, Substack’s percentage model is cheaper. Yearly billing lowers the beehiiv figures (for example, $49/month at 1,000 subscribers, which moves the break-even to $490). If you’re planning a move, see our Substack to beehiiv migration guide or our beehiiv vs Substack comparison.

Our recommendation

Based on beehiiv’s documented features and pricing:

  • Start on Free if you’re under 2,500 subscribers, not charging yet, and happy with a beehiiv web address for now. You get a website, a welcome email, and unlimited sends without paying.
  • Move to Lite when you want to charge readers, use your own domain, earn from the Ad Network, run a referral program, or build automations beyond a welcome email. For a solo writer, this is the plan that makes beehiiv a business tool.
  • Choose Pro only for a specific need: removing beehiiv branding, more than one paid tier, more than 2 seats or 3 publications, click-triggered automations, or a list above 100,000.
  • Consider a different platform if you want to sell paid subscriptions without paying a plan fee yet. Kit’s free plan covers up to 10,000 subscribers and allows selling subscriptions and digital products, though without automated sequences (see our Kit pricing guide).

FAQ

Is beehiiv really free?

Yes. According to beehiiv’s pricing FAQ, the Free plan is “free forever, with no credit card required,” for up to 2,500 subscribers, and every plan includes unlimited sends. You’ll need a paid plan for paid subscriptions, a custom domain, custom automations, and the Ad Network.

How much is beehiiv per month?

Paid plans start at $59/month (Lite, 1,000 subscribers, monthly billing) or $49/month on yearly billing. Pro starts at $109/month, or $95/month on yearly billing. Prices rise with your subscriber count: at 100,000 subscribers on monthly billing, Lite is $469/month and Pro is $699/month.

Does beehiiv take a cut of paid subscriptions?

No. beehiiv’s FAQ says it takes 0% of your paid subscription and digital product revenue. You pay Stripe’s processing fees (2.9% + $0.30 per transaction, per beehiiv). Paid subscriptions require Lite or higher.

Does beehiiv charge for email sends?

No. beehiiv’s FAQ says every plan includes unlimited email sends.

What happens when I go over 2,500 subscribers on Free?

Free is listed as “up to 2,500” subscribers, so you’ll need Lite or Pro to keep growing past that; the slider shows Free as “Unavailable” from 5,000 subscribers up. beehiiv’s FAQ says you can upgrade to the next plan at any time. Check your account’s billing settings for exactly how beehiiv handles the transition.

Can I use a custom domain on the free plan?

No. The feature comparison table lists custom domains on Lite and up, and beehiiv’s custom domain help article applies to “All Paid Plans.”

Can I remove beehiiv branding on Lite?

No. Removing beehiiv branding is listed as a Pro feature in beehiiv’s feature comparison table.

What happened to beehiiv’s Launch, Scale, and Max plans?

They’re gone from beehiiv’s pricing page. When we re-checked on October 1, 2026, the page showed Free, Lite, Pro, and Enterprise instead, with different prices and plan features (for example, custom domains are no longer on the free plan). Guides written before then may still use the old names.

Is yearly billing worth it?

If you’re confident you’ll stay, yearly billing saved about 13% to 17% compared with monthly billing on the tiers we checked (beehiiv’s FAQ says “up to 20%”). If you’re still deciding whether beehiiv fits, monthly billing keeps you flexible.
